Benign prostatic hyperplasia
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a widespread disease – over 40% of men over 50 suffer from it, and the risk increases with age: for those over 60 – 50% and those over 70 years – more than 60%.
It is common for the prostate gland to become enlarged as a man ages. The enlargement (hyperplasia) is caused by ageing and hormonal changes. Prostate hyperplasia causes urination disorders and considerable discomfort. Therefore an important part of treatment is aimed at improving the quality of life of affected individuals. In accordance with recommendations of experts of the World Health Organization (WHO), phyto-therapy is one of basic approaches in BPH therapy in the disease’s initial (1st and 2nd) stages.
